This March, CapRadio Classical and Jazz is celebrating Women's History Month by featuring a different female classical composer every weekday, as well as several jazz artists every night. We'll also introduce you to four local musicians who have made a massive impact within our own musical communities.
In 2018, CapRadio committed to raising the profile of underrepresented composers and musicians on our airwaves. When we started this work, for example, only 2% of our regular classical offerings were music written by women. By 2022, that number was increased to 11%. This is no small feat, though as you can imagine, there is still much work to be done.
Therefore, over the next month, we are excited to explore, discover and share remarkable music written and performed throughout history by some of the world’s greatest artists. In addition, this is an opportunity for us to focus on acquiring new and new-to-us recordings as we continue to grow our library and help to expand the timeless canons of classical music and jazz.
Join us all month as CapRadio celebrates Women in Music.
