Dixon Film Studio Update Will the City of Dixon be the home of a new $2.8 billion film studio? Morning View, a company run by Carissa Carpenter, was looking to build on more than 500 acres of open land in Dixon, but questions about Carpenter's background and past business dealings have arisen. The Sacramento Bee has recently published an investigation into the story and the issue was before the Dixon City Council last night. We'll get an update on the situation from The Sacramento Bee's Senior Writer Sam Stanton.

 

 

Tahoe Bears Wildlife officials say an early, dry summer in the Tahoe Basin is leading to increased interaction between humans and bears in Incline Village. Dry conditions are leading bears to forage for food in unsecured garbage cans, which is actually becoming more of a problem between animal rights activists and Nevada Department of Wildlife officials than between residents and the bears.  We’re speaking with representatives from the NDOW and the Bear League in an attempt to figure out the core issues of bear and human cohabitation in the Tahoe Basin, and how to keep both bears and humans safe.

 

 

Kushman by the Bottle In this month's Kushman by the Bottle, we'll talk an inside look at wine judging at the California State Fair. For the first time, our resident wine expert and occassional guest host Rick Kushman is chief judge along with critic Mike Dunne. We'll hear how judging is going for one of the oldest and most prestigious competition for California wines.

 

 

Emily Wells Momentum seems to be building behind the classical hip-hop stylings of violinist Emily Wells. She recently released an album, "Mama," and an acoustic version came out yesterday. She's playing at Plainfield Station in Davis this Saturday for a benefit concert for Annette DeBow, a Davis woman with a rare blood cancer. We spoke with DeBow on Monday and today we'll talk with Wells about her music, doing a Tiny Desk Concert at NPR and how she came to be a part of a local benefit.
