SFO Crash Update As more details emerge about the Boeing 777 that crashed at San Francisco International Airport Saturday, killing two people, authorities are piecing together the cause of the disaster. We'll speak with Ron Hess, a UC Davis professor of mechanical and aeronautical engineering, who is an expert on the type of airliner that crashed at SFO to see how pilot error and/or mechanical error could have attributed to the wreck.

 

Health Insurance Marketplaces In just under three months California and Nevada plan to have statewide health-insurance marketplaces open for the general public. These marketplaces, known as health-benefit exchanges, are key parts of the Affordable Care Act and will provide insurance seekers with a place to compare rates and plans while shopping for coverage. Nevada and California have both opted to run their own exchanges, although the two states have taken different tactics in implementing the marketplaces. Capital Public Radio’s Healthcare Reporter Pauline Bartolone recently sat down with the directors of California and Nevada’s health-benefit exchanges to talk about their respective plans. She joins us with audio from her interview and analysis of the two state’s different approaches to expanding healthcare.
