STARS Graduation Seven people will graduate tomorrow from a drug and alcohol intervention program in Sacramento County that works to keep families intact while members undergo treatment. We'll talk about this unique program which pairs a social worker with a recovery specialist to help guide the client through a complete process with Nikki Nelson, Supervisor of the STARS Program for Bridges, Inc., and John Smith, a 2012 graduate of the Early Intervention Family Drug Court.
McKinley Playground After the McKinley Park playground was destroyed by fire almost exactly a year ago, it is finally scheduled to reopen this evening. To mark the culmination of the major effort from community members to rebuild the playground, Councilmember Steve Cohn, the City of Sacramento Parks & Recreation and the Rebuild McKinley Steering Committee will come together tonight in a celebration including local music and food. Jeff Harris of the Steering Committee and Jacob Pluckebaum, one of many children to help with the rebuilding, join us today to preview the grand opening.

California State Library After four years dedicated to renovating the Stanley Mosk Library and Courts Building, it is starting to move back in, books which occupy 43 miles of shelving and contain 2 to 3 million volumes. In a tour conducted by the California State Library Foundation's Gary Kurutz, the Executive Director and Curator of Special Collections, Insight got a special look at the innermost vault as well as the new-and-improved building. With plans to open this fall, the California State Library will be completely open to the public and continue to provide resources to public libraries throughout California.
