Political Junkie Goes West The Political Junkie is turning his analytical gaze west. Ken Rudin, known to NPR listeners from his many years talking all things politics with Neal Conan on "Talk of the Nation," joins Insight host Beth Ruyak for a new signature segment that puts California politics in the context of the national scene. Rudin joins us from Washington D.C. in effort to put it all in perspective.

News Network The Sierra Nevada foothills are full of gold fever again after a couple found nearly $30,000 in gold coins earlier this year. Some folks are searching for their own share of booty, while others are trying to uncover the identities of the mystery couple is that found the coins. Auburn Journal Staff Writer Gus Thomson has been looking into the case of the gold coins and joins us to explain some of his latest findings.
Turlock the documentary When 50,000 hens were left to starve to death near Turlock in 2012, a Grass Valley-based animal organization stepped in to rescue as many of the birds as they could. Five thousand birds were rescued by Animal Place, Farm Sanctuary, and Harvest Home Animal Sanctuary, in what was the largest farm animal rescue in the California's history. A Bay Area-based filmmaker tells the story of the great hen rescue in a new documentary screening Thursday at The Guild Theatre in Sacramento. We’ll talk with Keegan Kuhn about “Turlock: the documentary” and why he decided to make it.
