Sacramento, CA
Hundreds more people have been evacuated due to a rapidly expanding wildfire near the El Dorado County community of Pollock Pines. The U.S Forest Service says 2,100 people have now been evacuated due to the King Fire, which grew by more than 5,000 acres to 18,500 acres overnight.
US Highway 50 is still closed between Sly Park and Fresh Pond due to the fire -- and schools in Pollock Pines have canceled classes again today.
The fire is burning rapidly in steep terrain in the South Fork of the American River and Silver Creek Canyons.
More than 2,500 firefighters are fighting the flames from the ground and the air.
Containment remains at just 5 percent. Evacuations: 2,100 people, 1,600 homes.
