Sign-Up Event Helps Farmers Market Vendors Accept SNAP/CalFresh Monday, April 27, 2015 | Sacramento, CA Listen / download audio Update RequiredTo play audio, update browser or Flash plugin. In California it’s getting easier for people receiving government assistance to buy food directly from their local farmers. But there are still farmers at local markets who don’t accept CalFresh or Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (known as SNAP) payments. On Tuesday, state and federal agencies are holding a one-day sign-up fair for farmer’s market vendors who want to accept CalFresh and Snap payments. The CalFresh Farmers Retail sign-up event is happening at Senator Richard Pan’s South Sacramento district office and will provide a one-stop-shop to help farmers and farmers’ market managers get authorized and receive advice for marketing their services to CalFresh households. Grants are also available for free wireless Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) equipment.
