A rally was held June 26, 2015 at the state Capitol to celebrate the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling on same-sex marriage.

While the Supreme Courts’ ruling on same-sex marriage (this week) doesn’t affect California law, it is a big symbol for LGBT people who have fought for equal rights in California for decades. Dennis Mangers is a former assemblymember and cable industry executive from Carmichael who married his partner, Michael Sestak, when a California court ruling legalized same-sex marriage in 2008, prior to passage of Prop 8 that November.
