There are a lot of female musicians, but when you look at who’s engineering the sound of those artists, it’s often times a man. Which is what makes Karrie Keyes special. She has been a sound monitor engineer for bands like Pearl Jam and Red Hot Chili Peppers (in their heyday). To help promote young women entering the field of audio production, Keyes is leading a live sound workshop starting Monday, July 27 at the Rock 'n Roll Warehouse in Modesto. This workshop is recommended for girls ages 12 and up and all attendees will run an actual show on August 1 at Respect on the River. The Northern California Women’s Music Festival sponsors the workshop. Keyes joins us with the director of the Northern California Women’s Music Festival, Victoria Boyington.
