Sacramento, CA
California Governor Jerry Brown met with Chinese President Xi Jinping Tuesday to discuss how the two states can combat climate change together. Brown is one of six governors involved in a climate change conference in Seattle focused on nuclear energy, smarter electricity use and other clean technologies.
Talks will include improving energy efficiency in buildings, modernizing electrical grids and commercializing renewable energy. The visit comes a year after China and the United States announced cooperation on combatting climate change.
We’ll check in with McClatchy Beijing bureau chief Stuart Leavenworth who worked for many years in Sacramento.
