People in Nepal were upset when their new urban buildings failed during the earthquake that killed more than 8,500 people this past April. Structural engineer and CEO of Miyamoto International Kit Miyamoto says Californians will face the same situation when the big one hits here. He says the Golden State knows how to build earthquake resilient buildings but it isn’t doing it enough. He has been in Nepal focusing on the engineering of buildings that failed in the aftermath of the earthquake. Miyamoto joins Insight to explain how California can take a lesson from the failings of Nepal. He’ll be speaking at the Sacramento chapter of the World Affairs Council Tuesday evening.
