Northwestern Nevada is becoming a hot place for big business to open shop. Companies such as Tesla, Apple, Amazon and Toshiba are moving in.
City Councilwoman Naomi Duerr will talk about Reno's economic growth and the challenges they come with. She's joined by Doug Erwin, the vice president of entrepreneurial development with the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada in Reno-Sparks-Tahoe.
The small community where the Tesla Gigafactory will be located is scrambling to keep up with infrastructure needs for the thousands expected to move into the area. Meanwhile, Reno area is trying to train a workforce that would be enough to fill technology sector jobs and is trying to fix overcrowding in its K-12 school system. Julia Ritchie, a reporter with KUNR, joins the conversation.
The restaurant scene is also part of Reno's transformation. Chef Mark Estee describes what "farm to fork" means in the region.
