Sacramento, CA
Last night, students and community members came together at Grant Union High School to celebrate the life of JJ Calvo, a xx and football player, who was killed by gunfire Friday on his way to a playoff game. One other student was injured. Tonight, community members will gather again at Allen Chapel AME in Del Paso Heights for a Healing Ceremony and Community March.
We'll talk with Sistah Pat Roundtree Rivers, co-pastor of For HIS Glory Church and Live Free Leader SacACT, about the community's reaction to the killing and what they'd like to see happen. SacACT released a statement Monday calling on officials to re-instate the Ceasefire violence intervention strategy and work with the Del Paso Heights community on comprehensive efforts to heal, restore and create opportunities for our youth.
