After Prohibition, Manhattan’s 52nd Street became home to the city’s jazz clubs for the next thirty years. Every jazz musician of note played there during that period, including jazz vocal legends Carmen McRae and Sarah Vaughan. This Saturday, Sacramento jazz vocalists Cynthia Douglas and Vivian Lee are presenting a special show, “Swinging Easy on 52nd Street: The Music of Carmen McRae and Sarah Vaughan,” at the State Theatre in Auburn. Lee and Douglas join us ahead of this weekend’s concert to preview some of the music she’ll be performing.
