Sacramento, CA
Imagine the beauty and grace of a ballet. Now, imagine a ballet without the limitations of gravity. That’s the idea of aerial dance. Dancers perform choreographed routines hanging from long fabric strands attached to the ceiling.
AirAligned is a Sacramento-based aerial dance group with a strong presence in the Grass Valley and Nevada City area. Tresa Honaker originally formed the group, but in 2012 she broke her T9 vertebrae during a rehearsal.
She’s now paralyzed from the waist down and serving as artistic director for the group. Honaker joins insight ahead of Saturday’s Free Family Fun Day at The Center for the Arts in Grass Valley.
AirAligned will be performing at the event, which also features The Amazing Bubble Man and Grammy-nominated hip hop artist Secret Agent 23 Skidoo.
