Sacramento, CA
Sacramento’s mental health system is struggling to meet the community’s needs. Capital Public Radio reporter Bob Moffitt is wrapping up a five-part series exploring the issues surrounding helping people in a mental health crisis and what the challenges are for police officers, courts and those providing services and treatment.
Moffitt rode along with an officer whose top priority is to help people in a mental health crisis and he spent time in a courtroom that works with people to keep them out of jail.
Today on Insight, we’ll talk with Moffitt about the series and what he learned about the mental health system currently in place in Sacramento.
