Does California really have more licensed gun dealers than McDonald’s?

That’s a claim made backers of Prop. 63, an initiative on the November ballot that would require instant background checks for ammunition purchases; strengthen checks for gun purchases and ban the possession of large, detachable military-style magazines; and require the immediate surrender of firearms for people convicted of serious and violent crimes.

PolitiFact California reporter Chris Nichols decided to look into that statement and we’ll talk with him about what he discovered.

He found out that there are almost more than double the number of gun dealers than there are places to get a Big Mac.
