"Summer was just a regular kid growing up in Folsom until her teenage years."

Those are the words of Summer’s dad, former CalTrans director Will Kempton.  In 2007, Summer died from a drug overdose and the Kempton family almost immediately established a memorial sports fund in her honor.

Kempton joins Insight to talk about Summer and the family’s hopes to fully endow the fund by 2017.  

Donations can be made to the Summer Kempton Memorial Youth Sports Fund through the Folsom Athletic Association, P.O. Box 835, Folsom, CA 95763.

Proceeds from the fund will be used to provide scholarships for disadvantaged youths to participate in the Folsom Youth Soccer Program.
