Indigenous communities from across the nation have traveled to North Dakota in protest of a planned oil pipeline.
For now, the Army Corps of Engineers has no plans to evict the hundreds of tribal protesters continuing to gather, and protesters argue they will remain even with the winter months approaching.
Michael Ben Ortiz is a Native American Broadcaster with KVMR. He traveled to Sundance in South Dakota to participate in the protests.
He joins us in studio alongside his daughter, Jennifer, to discuss the ongoing protests and the importance of Indigenous Peoples' Days starting Oct. 6 in Marysville.
