Kyla Aquino Irving would not be alive today if each of her parents hadn’t donated one of their kidneys.
Following her lifesaving operation, Kyla has worked hard to spread the word about the importance of organ donations, especially within minority communities.
Minorities represent more than half of patients awaiting transplants, yet they represent only about a quarter of those who sign up to donate organs after death.
This weekend is the National Donor Sabbath, an annual event where churches partner with health groups to spread the word about why and how you can donate.
Kyla tells her story alongside Reverend Kevin Kitrell of the Unity Ministry in Sacramento, which is partaking in the Sabbath.
