Professor Miriam Barlow uses experimental evolution to study antibiotic resistance.
Her focus is on the evolution of antimicrobial resistance, which has been affecting many people each year. She says Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aures outbreaks bring attention to the issue, yet is only a small piece of the antimicrobial resistance issue.
Tuberculosis and pneumonia are also becoming resistant to existing antibiotics.
We’ll talk with her about new research on infections that can resist most known antibiotic drugs.
