UPDATE 04/11/17: We replayed this interview on Insight after Colson Whitehead received a Pulitzer Prize Monday for his book "Underground "Railroad."
Novelist Colson Whitehead just won the 2016 National Book Award for his latest novel, “The Underground Railroad.”
It’s the story of Cora, a slave who escapes from her plantation in Georgia and passes through surreal depictions of South Carolina, North Carolina, and Tennessee on her way to freedom.
Cora endures all kinds of violence and suffering imaginable on her journey and is transformed as she surveys the nation.
Whitehead will be in Auburn March 13 at 7 p.m. at Placer High Auditorium to talk about his writing.
