One of the women instrumental in funding the UC Davis Cancer Center's search for its first dedicated breast cancer researcher lost her own battle April 18, 2017.

Laura Tyrrell had three different types of cancer over 17 years; breast cancer was the first. She was involved in many fundraising and awareness efforts including the Placer Breast Cancer Endowment, which raised the $1.5 million to fund the UCDCC position.

Her Celebration of Life is Wednesday morning at Destiny Christian Church in Rocklin at 11 a.m.
