Sacramento, CA
Two former Olympians from the Sacramento area will be on the track at Sacramento State this weekend for the U.S. Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Kate Grace will run the 15-hundred after winning the 800 at the trials last year and finishing eighth at the Olympics in Rio.
"Last yea,r I ended up choosing the eight and I had a lot of success so, wasn't getting pigeonholed , but kind of, like that became my distance, and people were assuming I was going to do it this year," says Grace. "But I have had some success already at like the mile and looking forward to trying myself out at the championship."
Kim Conley will be running in the 10,000-meter race. She's a two time Olympian and says they've been preparing for the hot weather which she says could play a part in how her race develops.
"They'll be more tactical, so the racers will go out slower," says Conley. "No one wants to no one wants to king of take a fast pace at the beginning."
Grace and Conley appeared on Insight with Beth Ruyak Tuesday. Listen to the full conversation by clicking on the audio player above.
