The collapse of Silicon Valley Bank and its potential impact on Northern California’s economy. A preview of Sacramento Master Singers’ “Songs in the Key of Life” performance this weekend. Goodbye to CapRadio All Things Considered Anchor and Reporter Randol White.
SVB's collapse
The sudden collapse of Silicon Valley Bank sent shockwaves through the banking industry and California’s tech economy. Today on Insight, CalMatters’ politics reporter Ben Christopher joins us to look at the bank’s failure through a California lens and how it could impact the state’s already-stressed budget projections. Plus, we’ll speak with Barry Broome, President and CEO of the Greater Sacramento Economic Council on what SVB’s failure could signal about the state of the tech economy and GSEC’s push to lure more high-tech jobs to our region.
Sacramento Master Singers' upcoming performance
Choral music has been bringing people together for centuries with the power to provide hope and reaffirm faith through heavenly harmonies. More recently, the soaring voices of Sacramento Master Singers have helped advance choral music in Northern California for more than four decades. Delighting audiences in Sacramento and around the world with new arrangements and classic choral songs. This weekend the group will be performing at the B Street Theatre in downtown Sacramento with songs they say will capture a wide range of life’s seminal moments: from birth to death, joy to sorrow. Ralph Hughes, Artistic Director and Conductor for Sacramento Master Singers, and Choir Member Mary Patt, joined Insight to talk about their performances "Songs in the Key of Life" at The Sophia at B Street Theatre in Sacramento.
Saying goodbye to CapRadio's Randol White
A familiar voice on CapRadio is saying goodbye. You may know of Randol White for his reports during “All Things Considered.” Or you may remember Randol as the host of Insight during a crucial time in 2020 when we all were navigating the scary unknowns of the pandemic. Regardless of how you’ve come to know Randol as a listener, today Insight is going to let you in on a little secret. He’s also a wonderful person outside of the news as both a CapRadio colleague and friend. Randol and his husband Ricardo are saying goodbye to Sacramento but not without a heartfelt farewell from the Insight team and some familiar voices on CapRadio. Randol joined Insight one last time to talk about his time at CapRadio and share where he’s headed next.
