Chalk Talk: Students and School Bonds
CapRadio Education Reporter Srishti Prabha returns for another segment of “Chalk Talk,” this time talking about issues related to gender expansive youth, sports equity, education bills and school bonds that will be on the ballot this November.
CA Campaign Watchdog’s Case Backlog
In the wake of the 1974 Watergate Scandal, California voters approved a ballot measure to create a new campaign watchdog to police campaign and ethics violations. However, a new analysis found this agency - the Fair Political Practices Commission - has faced a significant backlog of cases, and investigations that can drag on for years. Yue Stella Yu, a politics reporter with the nonprofit newsroom CalMatters joins Insight to talk about why these investigations have been so delayed - in some cases not finishing until after a candidate has been elected, or a politician has left office entirely.
CalMatters is a nonprofit newsroom that partners with public media stations across the state.
Sacramento Ghost Tours
With Halloween just around the corner, it’s the perfect time to explore the darker side of Sacramento’s history. Our city is known for its rich past, but not all of it is sunshine and gold. Beneath the surface lies a trove of creepy tales, haunted sites, and restless spirits that make Sacramento a spectral sanctuary of supernatural intrigue. Today, we’re diving into that phantasmic world with Sacramento Ghosts, part of US Ghost Adventures, which expanded its bone chilling tours here a couple years ago. Three of Sacramento’s Ghost Guides - Lydia Guerzon, Gabby Armstrong and Alexis Riewaldt - join us to discuss some of their favorite tales.
