The choral group is celebrating 30 years under the direction of Dr. Ralph Hughes and this weekend’s concert will showcase the work of one of Hughes’ artistic heroes. Ken Medema has composed a triptych based on the poems of three Sacramentans - Elli Johnston, James DenBoer and Sally Worthing - entitled Where the Rivers Meet. The subject of each poem is some aspect of the city of Sacramento and the piece was commissioned to honor Hughes' 30th year at the helm of the Sacramento Master Singers. Today on Insight, we’ll talk with Dr. Hughes and Ken Medema about their collaboration and how it came to be. We’ll also hear excerpts of the music. More info here.
