California's Budget The days of extra-late negotiations and missed deadlines for the State of California's annual budget seem to be a thing of the past. Capitol Bureau Chief Ben Adler joins us with the latest on the legislature's budget plans. Plus, California Sen. Ron Calderon held a noon press conference Monday to address allegations of wrongdoing after the FBI raided his office in Sacramento last week. We'll hear what he had to say.

"From Protest to Resistance" Sacramento resident and UC Davis French professor Margo Kaufman has a fascinating family history - her aunt escaped from Auschwitz in 1944. The story of Lilli Segal, a Jewish French Resistance fighter, was published in her German memoir in 1986. Last summer, Kaufman translated her aunt's story into English for the first time, and she joins us today to talk about "From Protest to Resistance."

 

 

"Art Deco Reimagined" The Sacramento Art Deco Society has teamed up wtih Blue Line Arts to present an exhibit of contemporary art inspired by the Art Deco period. The show, which runs through July 15, includse pieces that reflect the myriad of styles from the Art Deco period, including Zigzag Art Deco, Streamline Modeme, Machine Age and the German Bauhaus. The Art Deco Reimagined show will be limited to pieces that can be hung on the wall, including paintings, prints, low-relief sculptures and photography. Providing visual contrast to the juried items will be vintage Art Deco artifacts such as pottery, clothing, house wares and furniture that will be displayed throughout the Coker Family Gallery. We'll talk with three of the artists participating in the exhibit.
